Description: In relative terms, cyclone mortality risk has fallen in all regions since 2000, and is now lower than in 1980. This is an important achievement considering the extent to which exposure has increased over the same period. For example, in East Asia and the Pacific, relative mortality risk has fallen by about two-thirds since 1980, and has almost halved in sub-Saharan Africa.
