Description: The number of houses damaged relative to population growth in 21 countries and states has increased by approximately six-fold since the 1990s, far faster than the increase in economic loss risk due to major hazards reflecting how the risks generated by rapid economic growth are transferred to low-income households and communities who least enjoy its benefits.
