Disaster Loss Data and Linkage to Climate Change Impacts for the Arab Region

Description: This Technical Report presents a comprehensive analysis of weather-related and geological disasters in Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the State of Palestine, Tunisia and Yemen, based on the methodology and tools developed by UNISDR. It provides a historical review of disaster trends over a 30-year period based on each country’s nationally-accounted disaster losses and focuses on frequency, mortality and economic losses indicators. The outcome serves as a sound basis for well-informed decisions towards disaster risk reduction interventions and highlights the importance of carrying out such flood risk analysis at the country level to prioritize actions in this regard.
