Suspected cholera cases by commune (1st January to 24th September 2013)


DescriptionSince its emergence in October 2010, cholera has affected an estimated 694,842 people and claimed the lives of 8,494 people. From January to early December 2013 alone, Haiti reported more than 56,174 cases and 550 deaths, making it the country with the largest number of suspected cholera cases worldwide.

Its purpose is to consolidate this information and present it in an accessible way. It is intended to establish a common baseline of data that can be used to make comparisons across time. The information can be used for analysis of humanitarian crises and assistance, to support humanitarian policy decisions and to provide context for operational decisions.
